We will record this album as a trio due to the fact that Conny have ended up in a situation where he has to focus his attention and commitments on other things in life. We are sad to let him go and we wish him all the best of course. Peter will handle all the bass playing on this record as well as the guitars and since we are devoted to this studio project for at least 6 months, the hunt for a new bass player will not start until the fall. So, what have we done so far? We are a bit late in creating this blog and of course each session will have its very own post but here'a quick rundown of the studio progress so far.
Saturday May 25:th:
Drums extravaganza. Richard showed up in the studio early, ready to go! Peter, Fredrik and M.O.B:s master tech wizard Björn Andersson soon joined up. After a couple of hours of problem solving and setting up/configuring all the recording gear needed, it was time for Richard (backed by guitar and vocals) to do his thing. True to his former studio performances, he nailed all 11 drum tracks in one day, a very impressive acchievement if you ask me (Fredrik that is). We came back the following day with "fresh ears" to check if we found anything that needed to be corrected, but no re-takes was needed, its a wrap regarding the drums, nice!
Sunday May 26:th:
Richard left the studio after a listen to the drum tracks. Me and Peter then did a quick re-rigging, setting everything up for guitar recordings. Peter actually found a great guitar sound right away and rhythm guitar tracks were recorded for 3 songs this afternoon, "Among The Wolves, "Infected" and "The Legacy". Well done!
Thursday May 30:th
All 3 of us in the studio tonight. We did a total makeover/rewrite of 2 songs ("Nowhere" and "Out From The Dark") regarding the music and they came out quite nicely in the end, a bit rougher and harder than before. We recorded some temporary guitar tracks for these songs, we have to let them grow on us for a bit, im sure they will be reworked some more come saturday when me and Peter will spend the day recording more guitars! Here's some pictures from "drum day"! Catcha later! /Fredrik
